Abstract

|
The purpose of this study is to find out practical and political undertone in the social welfare for the successful old age, by analyzing socio-demographic characteristics, and the effect of work participation, and the effect of successful aging in the level of activity perception of the aged who are participating in Elderly Work Program(EWP) in Korea. We surveyed by sampling the institutions and the aged intentionally that were participating in EWP, after choosing one urban area and five rural areas in Chungbuk Province deliberately. The results showed that successful level of aging perception, the effect of EWP participation, the level of perception on the participation in old age indicate significant differences between urban and rural areas. Also, by analysing the relative influences among variables which affected successful aging perception, the level of successful aging perception is higher, as the level of family support is higher, as the level of activity perception in old age is higher, and as the effect of EWP participation is higher. As a result, we found out practical and political undertone in the social welfare for the improvement of successful aging perception in Korea.
